Seraphine Azikamah Apana is an educator | writer | author whose work is rooted in reflection, observation and a deep curiosity about people and the experiences that shape our lives.
With over eight years of experience in education, Seraphine has spent much of her professional life engaging with people, learning and growth. Teaching has shaped not only her professional life but also the way she observes people, listens to their stories and understands the lessons that can be found in everyday experiences.
Writing has been a quieter, lifelong companion.
For many years, Seraphine wrote privately, capturing thoughts, questions, observations and experiences that lingered beneath the surface of ordinary life. Her writing explores human behaviour, relationships, education, personal growth and the complexities of being human.
For a long time, however, these reflections remained hers alone.
That changed through grief.
After experiencing a loss she believed was meant to break her, Seraphine was confronted with a profound awareness of the brevity and fragility of life. The experience led her to question the purpose of keeping words that might have the power to touch, comfort, challenge or awaken another person.
She came to believe that there was little meaning in keeping a gift meant to be shared.
And so, grief became the catalyst for a new chapter in her writing. She began sharing her essays, particularly on Facebook, and gradually discovered that words she had once written privately could resonate with the experiences of others.
For Seraphine, this became more than simply publishing her thoughts. It became an offering.
She believes that if she must leave this world one day, she would rather leave having given what she came with than having kept it all to herself. Her writing is therefore an attempt to leave something meaningful behind: thoughts that may cause someone to pause, see differently, feel understood or recognise a lesson within their own experience.
As an educator and writer, Seraphine is interested in the intersection between learning and living. She believes that some of life’s most enduring lessons are not confined to classrooms. They are found in our relationships, choices, struggles, observations, losses and everyday encounters.
Her debut book, Reflections Beneath the Surface, is an extension of this journey and marks the beginning of her work as a published author.
She writes because life is brief, experiences carry lessons, and gifts are meant to be shared.
